Today’s the “2nd day of Christmas” and the 2nd day of our 12 days of Illumination.
I fell asleep last night thinking about “two turtle doves.”
You know, from the song.
On the 2nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me two turtledoves…
Turtledoves represent love.
Two is the relationship number. You and me. Two hands holding. Two hearts rejoicing.
And two is also the number of duality. As in, good and bad. Joy and pain. Happy and sad.
As in, I’m right and you’re wrong.
Today I’m thinking about the paradox of duality.
We are intrigued by difference. We come to know ourselves via contrast. And yet sometimes we get lost in the illusion of duality and forget that it is only ever a doorway back to Unity. Back to our home.
So my thought for today is this:
Whenever duality makes itself known in my life today, I choose to view it as an invitation to step into Unity.
When my dear husband loses his temper because our environmentally-friendly low flow toilet has backed up again (yes, this happened in our house yesterday…and he cleaned up the mess, bless him….)—a doorway to Unity.
When my daughters “forget” to do what I’ve asked them to do—several times (does this ever happen in your home?)—a doorway to Unity.
When I am missing my Dad so much my heart physically hurts—a doorway to Unity.
When I lose my head entirely, go unconscious and find myself being an all around grumpy Grinch—a doorway to Unity.
Because every one of those moments is an opportunity to remember who I am. I’m a Cosmic Creator, disguised as a creation. And so are you.
So there’s no reason to disparage any of your experiences. No matter what is happening in your life today, it’s not evidence that you’re giving off the “wrong” vibration, or that there’s something to fix, or do. The stuff of your life, even the messiest moment, is all a gift. It’s a doorway to Unity, to Divinity.
I’d love to hear where you end up being surprised by Unity today.
Peace of the singing stars to you,
